Blue Owl Capital has reached a price level that would have seemed difficult to imagine a year ago. The latest close was around $9.08, with the shares down more than 22% over the past month. For value investors, that kind of collapse demands a closer look. The business itself continues to expand. Second-quarter 2026 revenue increased 7.1% to $753 million, while assets under management reached $319 billion. However, net income fell 35% to $11.4 million, reducing the reported profit margin to roughly 1.5%. Distributable earnings were $0.22 per share, slightly higher than the previous year. The stock decline reflects growing concerns around private-credit fundraising, redemption pressure, credit losses and profitability. Recent restructuring concerns involving a Blue Owl loan also added to investor anxiety. Encouragingly, withdrawal requests from its flagship private-credit funds declined again in the third quarter. The dividend remains a major attraction. The quarterly payment increased from $0.18 in 2024 to $0.225 in 2025 and $0.23 in 2026, implying an annualized payout of about $0.92 at the latest rate. For value investors, the attraction is the depressed valuation and continued asset growth. The risk is that credit problems and weaker fundraising persist. A recovery could come if fundraising stabilizes and earnings accelerate, but uncertainty remains high. This review is for informational and educational purposes only, not financial advice.
