Olin has become a striking value-investing case. Shares recently traded around $16.50, close to their 52-week low of $16.35 and down roughly 46% from the 52-week high of $30.46. The decline reflects a serious earnings downturn, but the valuation is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Second-quarter 2026 revenue was $1.74 billion, down slightly year over year and below expectations. The company reported a $13.3 million net loss, or $0.12 per share, although adjusted EBITDA improved to $191.3 million from $176.1 million. The problem is that profitability remains weak. Olin has reported losses in recent quarters, while the chemical business faces difficult market conditions and cyclical pricing pressure. Trailing net income remains negative. There is nevertheless a potential recovery story. Adjusted EBITDA is improving sequentially, while management continues focusing on cost control and cash generation. The dividend remains $0.20 per quarter, or $0.80 annually, giving the shares a yield of almost 5% at the current price. The value case depends on chemical margins recovering and earnings returning to profitability. The risks are prolonged industry weakness, debt, volatile raw-material costs and continued losses.
